Bootstrapping a start up and growing the business at the same time part1

There is a lot of talk about start ups these days, especially with the increasing number of people becoming unemployed.  Many of these people, unhappy with the way they saw things run and how those decisions directly affected their job, have stepped into the business game themselves.  I happen to be one of those people.  3 years ago, I lost a job that I loved.  I decided then to do things my own way.  While this may be an easy thing to say, it is altogether very complex to pull off.  Today, my company Twine Interactive employs 10 people.  We have a storefront on one of the most prominent streets in Downtown Raleigh, and are quickly becoming known as an up and coming Raleigh business.

So how does all this affect you?  More than you might think.  If you’re someone who’s created a start up, or dreaming about starting a new company there are many things to learn along the way.  The first and most important lesson I’ve learned is, there is no way you know everything. Period.  Listen to other business owners talk.  Take note of how they got started, and the struggles they dealt with.  This series will deal with getting you the info you need to get your business started and growing as smoothly as possible.
